Black Forest wood carvings are highly-sought-after and stunning Swiss hand carvings usually with forest, leaves, and animal motifs, and this little chalet's base of graceful leaves are beautiful examples. Marked on the bottom with Chamonix and handwritten initials and date: AAT Aug 14, 1866. Chamonix, or Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, is in the Alps near the intersection of France, Switzerland, & Italy and a big skiing spot – it even hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924!

  • In good antique condition, with wear evident, some old damage to the back corner of the roof, and missing two of the roof's snow stop pegs and the key for the lock – none of which detracts from its display beauty

  • Interior blue velvet lining is absolutely gorgeous, with very minor wear for its age
